We know how important our role is in preparing young people throughout Barnsley to play a major part in our society. Young people are tomorrow’s workforce, and we do all we can to educate, train and encourage them to make a positive impact on our region.
To help us meet this huge responsibility, we work with Business Education South Yorkshire to provide work placements for students from schools within the borough. Students are usually aged 14 or 15, although we do take on some older students from local colleges.
Policies to pitches
Placements usually last for two weeks and can be done in many areas of the council.
So, you could be seeing how we run the Mayor’s Office, working on the financial side of things, helping people to register their new baby, or even getting a glimpse of how we make policies that affect your entire region.
Wherever you join us, you’ll discover a bit more of what’s involved in making sure that your area has all it needs, from libraries to schools to houses to sports pitches.
